It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of member James R. Wall. Jim had been a member of Box 52 since September 2010. Announcement and arrangements follow below:

He was born on September 17, 1942, in Cape May, New Jersey, and was the son of the late Chester and Marie (Danner) Wall. He grew up in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School.

Jim lived a life of public service and was committed to helping others. Soon after graduating from high school, he followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great-grandfather and joined the Boston Fire Department. He served as a Boston Fire Fighter for 39 years, most recently as a lieutenant on Tower Ladder 3. In his career, he received a commendation for saving a life in the Pru Fire in the mid 1980’s. Jim was also an active member of the Boston Sparks Association and Box 52 Association.

Jim loved taking trips to Hawaii and going on cruises with his wife Louise. He was also a member of St. Adelaide Church. Above all, Jim’s greatest love was his family. He was a loving husband and father, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a central part of his life.

In addition to his wife Louise, Jim is survived by his daughters, Debbie Gilbert and her husband Christopher and Kim Bua and her husband Gary, both of Peabody; his grandchildren Katelyn Ingersoll and her husband Jared, Nicholas Gilbert, Kyle Gilbert and his fiancé Paige Lepore, Courtey Bua, and Steven Bua; his great-grandchildren Jared James Ingersoll and McKenzie Ingersoll; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of his life of service to the residents and visitors of the City of Boston.
